I am not Catholic.
I was not raised Catholic, but I thoroughly enjoy the mysticism connected to the Christian faith through the practice of Catholicism.
You’ll also find these practices in the Greek Orthodox church and any other religion considered taboo in the western world.
You'll hear a lot of religious elements in my expression around mysticism in a way that is not disconnected from religion but rather integrated
(Now I know the many myriad of reasons for that, but we'll come back to that).
While religion is manufactured and has many faults, it is filled with a wealth of wisdom. Rather than reject the notion of religion as some inherent fallible human concept, I instead choose to honor it.
Even with all the goodness held, even the most positive religious structures MUST be integrated into one's being to elevate spirituality beyond a one-dimensional existence.
You do not have to be religious to implement the concepts we'll explore.
Your religion won't conflict with what we'll journey through together.
You must be willing to dive deep enough into your faith to properly comprehend these practices.
Not only can mysticism be integrated into religion, but when we dig deep enough, we discover mysticism at the core of all religions. It is the chicken, not the egg. Argue about it in the comments if you need to.
Our ancients knew; soon enough, you'll remember, too.
